Lane County, Oregon, incorporates the major cities of Eugene, Springfield, Coburg, Cottage Grove, Florence, Veneta and Junction City, to name a few. The county seat is Eugene. Lane County is one of the nation's most productive farming areas, due to its fertile soils and the Willamette Valley moderate climate. In the future, Lane County's economy is said to change its focus from timber and agriculture to the manufacturing of transportation equipment, printing and publishing, and high technology. Two major economic assets located here are the University of Oregon in Eugene and Monaco Coach, a major manufacturer of recreation vehicles headquartered in Coburg.
